Hooters Returns to NASCAR Paint Scheme for Miami Championship Weekend

Hooters is sponsoring Cole Custer’s No. 41 car at this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series championship in Miami, its first NASCAR appearance since a costly 2024 sponsorship dispute, while fans elsewhere gather for an Ohio State game in Columbus and a young hunter in Tennessee marks his first deer.

Hooters is making a return to NASCAR this weekend, sponsoring Cole Custer’s No. 41 Chevrolet at the Cup Series championship race at Miami-Homestead Speedway. Hoots, the brand’s owl mascot, and the Hooters Girls are scheduled to appear at the track to mark the occasion.

It is the first time Hooters has appeared on a car since a 2024 dispute with Hendrick Motorsports, which filed a lawsuit seeking $1.705 million after a sponsorship deal fell apart. Hooters ultimately paid $900,000 to settle the claim.

The NASCAR sponsorship comes amid a rough stretch for the restaurant chain, which has closed locations in Chicago and Atlanta this fall, along with a location at Daytona International Speedway that shut down permanently in October.

Ohio State Draws a Crowd in Columbus

In Columbus, Ohio State hosted a game this weekend that drew at least one father bringing along a group of three eighth-grade boys for a seat in the upper deck at Ohio Stadium, part of a wave of fans making the trip to the stadium for a contest with postseason implications for the Buckeyes’ playoff hopes.

Nebraska’s Struggles Against Minnesota

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Nebraska football continues to face questions about its inability to beat Minnesota and its struggle to return to the nine-win seasons it last achieved in 2016, a sore point among the program’s fan base.

A Tennessee Hunting Milestone

In Tennessee, a nearly 12-year-old hunter marked a personal milestone by bagging his first deer last weekend, days after passing his hunter safety course with a perfect score. His father, who had taken a deer of his own the week before, had the boy help skin it, according to the boy’s grandfather, who lives in Colorado.
