Bo Bice, the Southern rocker who finished runner-up on the fourth season of “American Idol” in 2005, has shaved off the long hair that became his trademark during the show and for years afterward.
Bice revealed the change on Instagram with a “Then and Now” split-screen photo comparing his old rocker look to a shorter hairstyle paired with sunglasses, layered necklaces and an open patterned shirt. The accompanying graphic read “A BRAND NEW MAN · RESURRECTED 2027.”
“Well, well, Tinkerbell… Who’s THAT guy?!” Bice wrote in the caption.
The post drew a mix of reactions. One commenter wrote, “Very different look but I would suggest to ditch the necklaces and button up the shirt.” Another was blunter: “I don’t care at all for the new look! It’s awful. Do, however, like to [hear] him sing. Not onto that look at all! YUK!”
Other fans welcomed the new image. “Look good! Glad you are back!” one person commented, while another wrote, “You looked good then and now. Keep rockin!” A third added, “Let’s go Bo!! I was cheering for you then & now as well!!”
Bice also used the post to signal a possible return to music after a two-year gap. “Ain’t it funny what 2 years’ll do in your life,” he wrote, noting he hasn’t released new music since “Born of Heroes Blood,” which won Most Impactful Song of the Year – Vocalist at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards.
“Here’s a blast from my past and a glimpse into my future with a new life, new style, but the same southern soul,” Bice wrote. “I’m here to offer you a #BRANDNEWMAN!”
Bice finished as runner-up to Carrie Underwood on “American Idol” in 2005, with his gritty vocals and Southern rock style making him one of the most recognizable contestants of that season.
