Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato Reunite for Rare Beauty Campaign, Recreating ‘Princess Protection Program’ Poster

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato reunited for a Rare Beauty campaign that recreates their 2009 ‘Princess Protection Program’ movie poster, promoting a new $76 blush bundle.

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have teamed up for a new Rare Beauty campaign that recreates the poster from their 2009 Disney Channel movie, “Princess Protection Program.”

Gomez, who founded Rare Beauty, shared the images on Instagram showing the two in gowns and tiaras, perched atop a pile of luggage just as they were in the original film poster.

“Once a Princess, always a Princess 👑💗,” Gomez wrote, adding, “Best friends don’t just have each other’s backs. They make them blush too. @ddlovato @rarebeauty.”

The collaboration centers on the Delena blush bundle, priced at $76, which includes Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shades Hope and Virtue along with a blush brush.

The pair’s wardrobe nodded to the film while getting a significant upgrade. Gomez wears a teal, tiered Oscar de la Renta gown from the label’s resort 2016 collection, echoing her character’s look, while Lovato wears a yellow embellished Leo Lin mini dress priced at $3,295.

In a press release announcing the campaign, Rare Beauty said, “The reunion the internet has been manifesting for years is finally here.”

“Coming together for this campaign was a beautiful reminder of that history and a chance to celebrate who we are today. One and the same….always,” Gomez said.

“Selena and I have shared a lot of memories over the years since childhood,” Lovato said. “So being able to connect in this way, in a campaign that feels so nostalgic to both of us, is such a full-circle moment.”

Gomez and Lovato have known each other for nearly 25 years, having first met in 2002 as seven-year-olds auditioning for roles on “Barney.” Their friendship has not always been steady, however. In a 2020 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Lovato acknowledged a falling-out between the two.

“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so it felt …” Lovato said at the time. “I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”

Signs of renewed closeness emerged in April, when Gomez was seen supporting Lovato from the audience during one of her concerts, a moment that delighted longtime fans of the two former Disney Channel stars.
