Savannah Chrisley is expecting her first child and has announced her engagement to Jason Galanis, a 56-year-old convicted fraudster whose prison sentence was commuted by President Trump, prompting the reality TV star to publicly defend her unborn child against online criticism.
Chrisley, 29, revealed the pregnancy and engagement in an Instagram video Tuesday. She did not initially name her fiancé but said he was “much older” than her. Us Weekly later identified him as Galanis, who is 27 years older than Chrisley.
After backlash over the relationship and pregnancy, Chrisley posted a sonogram image to her Instagram Stories with a message addressed to her unborn child.
“You are not a headline. You are not a controversy,” she wrote. “You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions.”
She described the baby as “innocent, deeply loved and the greatest blessing” to her and Galanis, adding: “No amount of noise in this world will ever overshadow the joy of being your mama. You are my answered prayer. And I will never apologize for celebrating you.”
Who Is Jason Galanis
Galanis was sentenced in September 2020 to more than 14 years in prison for his role in two fraud schemes, including one that defrauded a Native American tribe and investors out of tens of millions of dollars. President Trump commuted his sentence in March 2025.
Galanis was also an associate of Hunter Biden and testified in March 2024, while still incarcerated, as part of the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into former President Joe Biden.
He shares another connection with Chrisley’s father: both men served time at Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida. Page Six confirmed their time there overlapped from January to August 2023. Todd Chrisley, 57, and his wife Julie Chrisley were themselves pardoned by Trump in May 2025 following convictions for tax evasion and bank fraud.
Chrisley Defends the Age Gap
On Tuesday’s episode of her podcast “Unlocked,” Savannah Chrisley addressed the age difference between her and Galanis.
“I have always said, ‘I would rather [have] 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just [fine] years,'” she said.
She also praised Galanis’s physical appearance and intellect, saying he “does not look his age, nor does he act his age,” and calling his body “great” and his mind “even sharper.”
