Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams was carried off the Paycom Center court on a stretcher Saturday night after suffering a serious lower-leg injury during the team’s 108-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
The injury happened late in the game as Williams drove to the basket for a layup and was sandwiched between two Clippers defenders. He fell awkwardly, with his left leg bending underneath him as he hit the floor.
Team trainers quickly covered Williams’ leg with a towel as staff signaled for medical personnel and a stretcher. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander appeared visibly shaken on the sideline, pulling his jersey over his face at one point, and several Clippers players also looked upset by what they had witnessed.
As medical staff tended to Williams, fans at Paycom Center began chanting “JDub” and gave him a standing ovation as he was wheeled off the court. Williams responded with two thumbs up toward the crowd.
“I just feel bad for him,” Gilgeous-Alexander said afterward, fighting back tears.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault addressed the injury in his postgame comments, saying the team was shaken by what happened to their teammate.
“Those are tough, man,” Daigneault said. “We’re not doing great. That’s tough on the guys. Everyone empathizes; I think both teams in those situations and so not doing great.”
Daigneault said the nature of the injury “speaks for itself” and that he expected to have more information on Williams’ condition on Monday.
The injury adds another setback to what has already been a difficult stretch for the All-Star wing. Williams played just 33 games during the 2025-26 season while dealing with strains in both hamstrings and a persistent shooting-wrist injury.
