A sprawling estate in The Village at Castle Pines has come on the market for $12.5 million, a price that would make it the highest residential sale on record in Castle Rock.
The property, at 3 Elk Pointe Lane, sits on nearly 7 acres along the eighth fairway of Castle Pines Golf Club and measures about 13,800 square feet. It was built 16 years ago by owners Lewis and Rebecca Kling, working with architect Don Ruggles and builder Montare.
“The owners haven’t made any updates, as they were very precise with their design 16 years ago,” said listing agent Stacie Chadwick of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, who shares the listing with Justin Joseph.
The house is organized around an 8-foot-wide, 140-foot-long entry gallery with 21-foot ceilings, walnut floors and limestone pillars that terminates in a floor-to-ceiling glass wall.
“The architect thoughtfully positioned the residence on its nearly 7-acre site to capture the surrounding landscape, even shifting the home inches during construction to perfectly frame Pikes Peak through the center of its dramatic entry gallery,” Chadwick said.
Walnut appears throughout the home in the floors, doors, cabinetry and coffered ceilings. A two-story water feature sits beside a floating walnut-and-steel staircase, and the home has 11 fireplaces in all — seven indoors and four outside.
The dining room seats 12 under three crystal chandeliers and connects to a 400-bottle wine room. The kitchen is outfitted with Gaggenau appliances, seating for six at the bar, and a television that rises into view when needed.
The primary suite has its own fireplace, a private deck and a bathroom with a three-sided steam shower. Four additional en suite bedrooms on the lower level each open onto a deck or patio, part of roughly 8,000 square feet of outdoor living space connected to every room in the house.
Other amenities include a theater with a 108-inch screen, a fitness suite with a sauna, a panic room, and a Crestron/Vantage system that manages about 620 interior and exterior lights.
A Hidden Car Gallery
The home’s most unusual feature is largely out of sight: a roughly 3,400-square-foot underground gallery that can hold about 10 cars, accessed from the circular driveway by a hydraulic elevator. The space includes its own kitchen, bar, fireplace and bathroom, along with Hermès-inspired etched glass and a fire pit overlooking the golf course.
Outside, a trail leads to a heated treehouse, and sculptures by Colorado artist Jim Vilona are placed throughout the grounds. The property was a finalist for 2016 Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Home of the Year, and its landscaping received a Grand Award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals.
Residents of the Village at Castle Pines have access to two Jack Nicklaus–designed golf courses, trails, and tennis and pickleball courts.
“The combination of architectural vision, engineering, art, privacy, and extraordinary amenities creates a property that would be exceptionally difficult to replicate today,” Chadwick said.
