Reality television personality Brandi Glanville says she is scheduled to undergo exploratory facial surgery after four years of unresolved health problems that she believes trace back to a 2023 trip to Morocco.
The 53-year-old former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star discussed the procedure on an episode of her podcast, “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered,” released Thursday, Oct. 22. She said facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Carlo Honrado would perform the surgery, which she described in detail.
“Dr. Carlo Honrado is taking my face off on Friday and going to do an exploratory surgery to kind of do a power wash under my skin,” Glanville said. “And then he knows where there’s two definite spots, like either fungal balls or something alive. I think it’s alive personally cause it moves when it wants.”
Glanville said she is “super excited” but also “scared to death” ahead of the operation, noting she has never had facial surgery and has been told it is more intensive than a facelift. She said she is willing to pay the roughly $5,000 cost in hopes of finally resolving the issue.
“What if he actually does take it out and it’s done?” she said.
According to Glanville, the condition began in her cheek and jawbone before spreading to her head, neck and now her spine. She said the doctor told her that removing what she called “that head off the beast” could make treating the rest of the problem more manageable.
A years-long medical ordeal
Glanville has said she believes she contracted a parasite during a 2023 trip to Morocco. She experienced facial paralysis and was initially diagnosed with stress-induced angioedema.
In September, she disclosed a more extensive set of diagnoses, including highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter with biofilm, coccidioidomycosis (commonly known as Valley fever), Demodex dermatitis and mononucleosis. She said her treatment involves daily IV infusions costing an estimated $3,300 to $6,000 a month.
Glanville told Fox News Digital she agreed to compete on the current season of “Special Forces” largely because of the financial strain of years of medical spending.
“The medical system here is broken. So I have, like, from 8 a.m. on, I have creditors from, like, medical things calling me, like from Cedars-Sinai. It’s out of control. Like I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars that I had saved. I emptied my 401(k). And it’s all for medical bills. And I had insurance, and they told me nothing was wrong. I’m so angry. You know, going into my mid-fifties I had a cushion and that’s gone. So it’s very scary right now.”
Glanville added that beyond the financial motivation, she wanted to prove to herself that she could still compete on the show.
“I just want this s— out of my body,” she wrote in September. “I want my health back. I want my life back. I want to feel like me again.”
