Elon Musk reduced the monthly child support he was paying to Ashley St. Clair by a total of $80,000 after she went public with news that she had secretly given birth to his child, according to claims made in the new documentary “Musk.”
St. Clair, 28, says in the film that Musk, 55, had offered her $15 million up front and $100,000 a month in child support in exchange for signing a nondisclosure agreement to keep their relationship and their son, Romulus St. Clair, secret. St. Clair has previously said she turned down the deal because she could not “in good conscience” sign it and did not want her newborn to “feel like he’s a secret.”
According to the documentary, Musk then cut her monthly payments to $40,000 after she declined the NDA, and cut them again to $20,000 after she publicly revealed their son in February 2025, Entertainment Weekly reported.
St. Clair, a former conservative influencer, says Musk was “kind” to her until Romulus, now 2, was born. “It was almost as if he didn’t show a certain side of himself until after I had our baby,” she says in the film. She has previously said in a TikTok video that “things started getting weird” between them once she became pregnant.
How the relationship began
St. Clair says in the documentary that her relationship with Musk started in 2023, after he began “interacting” with her on X.
“He was responding to my posts frequently. One day, he responded to one of my Mother’s Day posts [and said] that I should have more children,” St. Clair says. She adds that Musk called himself a “good dad” and seemed to have an “amicable” relationship with the mothers of his other children.
She recalls Musk telling her, “We should have a kid. You should have so many more kids. You should have 10 kids,” before she said, “Eventually, I was like, ‘Well, what does that look like?'”
Other claims in the documentary
Musk recently welcomed his 14th child, Seldon Lycurgus, with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, who has said he ended their relationship “with no warning.”
St. Clair claims in the documentary that Musk may have fathered more children than are publicly known. She says she was contacted by other women whom Musk had allegedly been messaging on social media and “offering them children.”
“There was a woman in Japan who just wanted, basically, sperm donation that he obliged,” St. Clair says. “It’s like a Gatling gun of sperm in his DMs.”
Ongoing custody dispute
St. Clair is in a custody battle with Musk over Romulus. Her legal team has alleged that the dispute led Musk to “substantially” reduce his financial support, leaving her facing eviction.
Musk has previously said he paid St. Clair $2.5 million and said he was “not against finding out” whether he is the child’s father.
At the Venice Film Festival, where “Musk” premiered, St. Clair said Musk had told her in a text message before she gave birth that he wanted a “legion of children before the civil war.”
