A close friend of Meghan Markle has offered a rare public look at the Duchess of Sussex’s time in the United Kingdom, posting a series of photographs from a recent visit.
Kelly McKee Zajfen, who calls herself Markle’s best friend, shared the images on Instagram Wednesday, documenting a late-summer stay that included her infant son, Jack, alongside Markle and her family.
The photos show Markle cradling baby Jack at a wooden table in a rustic setting, and a video clip of Zajfen bouncing her son in a carrier at what appeared to be a local pub. Another image captured Prince Harry playing with the baby on the floor. In a separate photo, Markle and Zajfen are seen playing mahjong at an outdoor table surrounded by greenery, with Markle appearing to laugh as the picture was taken. Princess Lilibet was also pictured interacting with Zajfen on a couch.
Zajfen captioned the carousel, “Having the best time. There’s something so special about getting a taste of this magical place with my bestie, and having my sweet Jack along for the adventure.”
“Family time is just what the heart ordered, with a side of mashed peas and fish n chips! All of it has filled my heart.”
She said she was leaving the country “with full hearts and definitely leaving a piece of ours here,” and thanked people she had met alongside Markle during the trip “for being so loving to” her friend. “It’s been beautiful to witness,” she added. “She missed you too! Cheerio!”
Commenters responded warmly to the post. One wrote, “Glad to see Meghan surrounded by people who love her,” and added that many were “praying for her.” Another said, “I love the community and family you guys have built,” while a third wrote, “We are so happy to see her and H back home.”
The visit follows Prince Harry, 42, and Meghan Markle, 45, abruptly leaving their Santa Barbara, California estate last month with plans to re-establish themselves in the UK and strengthen their children’s ties to Harry’s family.
Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, had briefly been enrolled in a prep school in the Santa Barbara area but were pulled after just two days because of travel logistics and enrolled in a new school in the UK. Parents at the new school have reportedly been asked to be cautious about photographing other children.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the UK in 2020 after the birth of Prince Archie, stepping back from royal duties and settling in Southern California. Their move back comes after Netflix declined to renew its deal with the couple.
