Shoppers looking to stock up on rain gear before fall storms arrive can find several jackets discounted on Amazon, including a popular Columbia model now selling for less than $40.
The Columbia Switchback rain jacket, normally priced at $70, is currently marked down 46% to $38. The jacket uses Columbia’s Omni-Shield fabric, which the company says repels rain and resists stains. It includes a stowaway hood, adjustable cuffs, a drawcord hem and large zippered hand pockets, and it packs down small enough to fit in an overnight bag.
The jacket has more than 1,000 reviews on Amazon and holds a 4.4 out of 5 star rating. More than 100 units sold in the past month alone, according to Amazon’s listing.
“I’ve always been a fan of Columbia, and this jacket reminded me why,” one reviewer wrote. “The quality is outstanding, as always — lightweight, comfortable and well-made. It keeps me protected without feeling bulky.”
“Columbia is a great company for longevity and quality,” another reviewer said. “These jackets are great at keeping you dry in the wettest conditions. I will always keep one on hand.”
Not every review was glowing. Some buyers said the fit runs tight, with one recommending shoppers “size up” if they plan to layer underneath. Others said the sleeves run long, though one reviewer said that worked in their favor: “I was happy with the length — long enough to cover most of your hands if you want, but easy and comfortable to Velcro at wrist level.”
