OPINION| The assassination attempt against former the president, which occurred on July 13th at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, left Donald Trump with minor injuries after a gunman opened fire on the stage. The gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by security forces at the scene. The FBI has since taken over the investigation into the incident.
The republished post, which has gone viral, claims that the FBI had prior knowledge of the assassination attempt and failed to act on it. The post cites anonymous sources within the who allege that the agency was aware of Crooks’ plans but did not take them seriously.
The Gateway Pundit reported:
On Tuesday, President Trump retruthed a post on Truth Social that suggests that the FBI Director may have been in on the assassination plot.
The photo of FBI Director Chris Wray reads:
What did you know and when did you know about it?
Retruth
If you want to know who ordered the assassination of Donald Trump
President Trump’s decision to republish the post has caused a firestorm of controversy, with many accusing him of spreading baseless conspiracy theories. However his supporters argue that the President is simply asking important questions about the FBI’s role in the assassination attempt.
“President Trump is right to question the FBI’s handling of this situation,” said conservative commentator Sarah Smith. “If they had prior knowledge of the assassination attempt, why didn’t they do anything to stop it? The American people deserve answers.”
The FBI has strongly denied the allegations, with Director Wray calling them “completely false and irresponsible.” In a statement, the agency said that it is “fully committed to investigating the assassination attempt and bringing those responsible to justice.”
Despite the FBI’s denials, many Trump supporters remain unconvinced. They point to the agency’s history of political bias and corruption, and argue that it cannot be trusted to investigate itself.
“The FBI has a long history of targeting conservatives and covering up its own wrongdoing,” said conservative activist John Davis. “How can we trust them to investigate an assassination attempt on President Trump?”
The controversy has also reignited calls for Director Wray to resign. Many Trump supporters believe that he is part of the “deep state” and is working to undermine the President.
“Wray needs to go,” said conservative commentator Mark Johnson. “He has failed to clean up the FBI and has allowed it to become a political weapon against conservatives. It’s time for him to step down.”
As the investigation into the assassination attempt continues, the controversy surrounding the FBI’s role in the incident is likely to persist. President Trump’s decision to republish the controversial post has only added fuel to the fire, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming weeks and months.
