As a nation, we are seeing the corruption of the FBI and the left’s lack of respect for civil liberties on full display. Recently, a retired FBI supervisory intelligence analyst, George Hill, testified to the House Judiciary Committee that the Washington field office was illegally pressuring agents in Boston to open criminal cases on 140 people who had taken a bus to the Jan. 6 rally in Washington, DC.
Hill stated that there was no evidence of criminal activity and that the Boston office refused to open cases. Unfortunately, the Washington office did not take this news well. This type of behavior is unacceptable and goes against our constitutional right to freedom of speech. We should not be criminalizing people just for attending a rally.
Furthermore, Hill expressed concerns that the FBI is potentially illegally mining bank records and withholding video footage that could identify its undercover agents and human sources. This is another troubling aspect of this case. The American people deserve to know the truth and to have the assurance that our government is not using our personal data without our consent.
Judicial Watch has taken the case to court, filing a FOIA lawsuit against the FBI, asking for all records of communication between the FBI and any financial institution. So far, the FBI has declined to provide any records. The American people deserve to know the truth and to have the assurance that our government is not using our personal data without our consent.
Judicial Watch is currently pursuing litigation to force the Bureau to release documents on how it got bank records during the Jan. 6 probe, but so far, the FBI has declined to provide any data.
The appeal, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, comes in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch after the FBI failed to respond to a February 10, 2021, FOIA request (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:21-cv-01216)). Judicial Watch is asking for:
“All records of communication between the FBI and any financial institution, including but not limited to Bank of America, Citibank, Chase Manhattan Bank, Discover, and/or American Express, in which the FBI sought transaction data for those financial institutions’ debit and credit card account holders who made purchases in Washington, DC, Maryland and/or Virginia on January 5, 2021, and/or January 6, 2021.”
The corruption of the FBI and the left’s disregard for civil liberties is alarming and we must stand up and speak out against it. We must exercise our right to vote and make sure we elect leaders who will fight for our rights and freedoms. We must also continue to speak out against corruption and make sure our voices are heard. We are the ones in charge and we should never forget that our government works for us.
