Ben’s wife, Nathalie, announced his death on June 8 in a statement that described it as “an unfortunate accident.” She did not provide further details about the circumstances of his passing.
In her message to Ben’s followers, Nathalie remembered her husband as a “loving and genuine” person who was loved by everyone around him. She spoke of his ability to make everyone laugh and his unwavering support for his loved ones.
“He was our rock and he’d reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it,” Nathalie wrote. “He was my world.”
Nathalie also vowed to preserve Ben’s legacy and continue his work. “His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this,” she said.
Ben had spent over 10 years on YouTube, sharing his love and appreciation for comic books and creating audio dramas of his favorite characters. His channel was a testament to his passion for storytelling and his ability to connect with his audience.

News of Ben’s passing was met with an outpouring of grief from his fans and fellow creators. O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of legendary rapper Ice Cube, was among those who paid tribute to Ben.
“Rest in Peace to Comicstorian. I’m heartbroken to hear this news,” Jackson Jr. wrote. “One of my favorite follows on YouTube, thank you so much for your work man. I was a huge fan.”
Jackson Jr. concluded his message with a heartfelt plea to Ben’s loved ones and his fans. “Prayers to his loved ones. Long live Ben Potter,” he wrote. “Y’all be good. Hold your loved ones tight. I’ll see y’all soon I hope.”
