Audrey “Aiden” Hale, who identified as a transgender male, has been named as the individual who shot and killed at least six students and staff at the Covenant Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday.
The Nashville Police Chief confirmed Hale as the shooter, and suggested Hale’s transgender identity played a role. “We have a manifesto,” he confirmed, “and a map of how all this was going to play out.”

According to three separate law enforcement sources with knowledge of the situation to NBC News, Hale is a Nashville resident who reportedly used to attend the grade school at the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
NBC News reporter Gabe Gutierrez tweeted on Monday afternoon that “three law enforcement officials briefed on the matter tell NBCNews the deceased school shooting suspect is Audrey Hale, a Nashville resident.”

In remarks after the mass shooting at the Christian elementary school prior to the suspect’s reported identification, Joe Biden claimed that the assailant was armed with “two AK-47s” and pushed for a nationwide gun ban, after first pausing for ice cream recommendations, Valiant News reported.
“We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart, ripping the soul of this nation, ripping at the very soul of the nation,” Biden said. “And we have to do more to protect our schools so they aren’t turned into prisons.”
“You know, the shooter in this situation reportedly had two assault weapons and a pistol, two AK-47s. So I call on Congress again to pass my assault weapons ban,” Biden added.

No information about the make or model of the weapons had been given by officials at the time of Biden’s remarks.
When the president first approached the podium to address the tragic deaths of at least six Americans, Biden first discussed his well-publicized love of ice cream, and even made a product endorsement.
“I eat Jeni’s Ice Cream, chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream,” Biden said, drawing disparate laughter from the crowd. “By the way, I have a full refrigerator upstairs. You think I’m kidding? I’m not.”

After amusing the audience with ice cream talk, Biden then appeared distracted by “good looking kids” in front of him.
“It’s delight to have you all here — and who are those good looking kids back there?” Biden asked.
