CNN: Kill ‘Poor’ Babies

Would poor children be better off dead? That’s what CNN anchor Dana Bash is insinuating when she asked Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson who signed in a nearly complete ban on abortions in his state last year. He now wants the law revisited to include exceptions for rape and incest after a similar law in Mississippi provoked the challenge instead.

That wasn’t ‘good’ enough for Bash who proceeded to insinuate that children in poverty shouldn’t be born to begin with.

“Arkansas already struggles to support vulnerable children,” Bash said. “Nearly 1 in 4 children in Arkansas lives in poverty. More than 4,600 kids are already in your state’s overloaded foster care system. Do you really think that your state is prepared to protect and care for even more children if abortion does become illegal there?”

Hutchinson acknowledged his state’s “historic challenges with poverty” while touting the expansion of Medicaid and foster programs to enhance childcare.

“It’s been a high priority,” the governor said. “Obviously there’s always opportunity to do more. And we have to address this issue with compassion because of the difficult circumstances and the fact that you’re dealing with most vulnerable populations.”

The governor’s brief remarks failed to push back on the premise of the question, however, that children in poverty could have avoided their circumstances had impoverished mothers opted to forgo the gift of life to begin with.

Okay, what in the Nazi regime? How many ‘poor kids’ were born in poverty and rose to the ranks of greatness. Off the top of my head, the world’s richest woman; Oprah Winfrey—Should he have been aborted? Ralph Lauren, Keanu Reeves, Leonardo DiCaprio. Albert Einstein! He was poor pretty much his whole life, should he have been aborted twice? Nicola Tesla—Born poor, died POOR.

What about the nameless heroes who grew up poor? Service men and women, first responders, doctors, etc…

This argument is callous and ignorant. Honestly, Bash really outdid herself here. This was a real Marie Antoinette moment for the over-glorified CNN stooge, in my opinion. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
