Watch: Sen Cruz Goes Beast Mode Level 10 On Treasonous Dems

Texas Senator Ted Cruz basically destroyed Democrat’s so-called witnesses during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. The hearing was started by Democrats to push the Department of Justice to go after states with current voter identification laws.

Cruz went in with a ‘take no prisoners’ attitude and asked the witnesses if they thought voter identification laws were racist and how. If the witnesses tried to go off-topic, Cruz shut them down and redirected the question.

Vice-dean at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Franita Tolson made the mistake of giving ‘Texas’ as her example of racism without giving an explanation.

“It depends. One thing we have to stop doing is treating all voter ID laws as the same,” Franita Tolson vice dean at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law said.

When Cruz pressed her, she said: “Apologies, Mr. Cruz, [in] your state of Texas, perhaps. … The fact that the voter ID law was put in place to diminish the political power of Latinos with racist intent.”

Hans von Spakovsky, the manager of the Heritage Foundation’s Election Law Reform Initiative and a senior legal fellow in Heritage’s Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies said “no” to Cruz’s question about whether voter ID laws are racist.

The Heritage Foundation is the parent organization of The Daily Signal.

Von Spakovsky added that the Obama administration previously approved voter identification laws and found no malicious in the law’s intent.

“Particularly because every single state that has passed an ID law has put in a provision to provide a free ID to anyone who doesn’t have one,” von Spakovsky said.

Spakovsky added, “The turnout numbers show it has no effect.”

He concluded, “I would remind everyone that [as for] the current version of the Texas voter ID law for its in-person voting, the Obama administration agreed in court, in a court filing, that they were satisfied with it and it was not discriminatory.”

Another witness for Dem, John Yang, said Voter ID laws can be racist.” Yang is the president of the group Asian Americans Advancing Justice.

Thomas Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, seemed to have more conviction with his answer but could not give a single example or explanation.

“There are some voter ID laws that are racially discriminatory in intent,” Saenz said.

Cruz followed up by saying: “Let’s just talk about it as a practical matter. When I go to vote, they ask me for my ID. I pull out my ID. I show it to them. I vote. Is that racist?”

“If the law that requires you to do that was motivated by racially discriminatory intent under our Constitution,” Saenz said, adding later: “In effect, I think there are discriminatory effects in a number of voter ID laws.”

Watch

At the end of it all, the fact of the matter was Democrats could explain how voter identification laws are ‘racist. They practically declared them racist based solely on personal feelings even though they have made little to no impact on voter turnout at the polls.
