Completely Mental: Joe Reid Says People Interest In Gabby Petito’s Case Are Rasist

The insufferable MSNBC host, Joy Reid, is quickly clawing her way to the top of the racist stack with CNN’s Don Lemon. The way she makes everything into a racial issue is enough to make you nauseous. Now she says that the disappearance and subsequent murder of Gabby Petito are only interesting to people because she was white. Reid dubbed it the ‘missing white girl syndrome’ as if everyone interested in the case suffers from some sort of make-believe mental disorder.

“If you’ve been watching the news for the past few days or on Twitter or Tik Tok, you’re probably familiar with the name Gabby Petito,” she began. “The 22 year old aspiring social media influencer, who was reported missing after her fiancé returned from their van life excursion without her.”

Reid continued, “On Sunday human remains believed to be Petito’s were found in a national park in Wyoming. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to confirm the identity. Now it goes without saying that no family should ever have to endure that kind of pain, and the Petito family certainly deserve answers and justice. But the way this story has captivated the nation has many wondering, why not the same media attention when people of color go missing?”

“Now it goes without saying that no family should ever have to endure that kind of pain, and the Petito family certainly deserve answers and justice. But the way this story has captivated the nation has many wondering, why not the same media attention when people of color go missing?” Reid asked. “Well, the answer actually has a name, ‘missing white woman syndrome,’ the term coined by the late and great Gwen Ifill, to describe the media and public fascination with missing white women like Laci Peterson or Natalee Holloway, while ignoring cases involving missing people of color.”

Teton County Coroner Brent Blue determined Petito was a homicide victim, but did not disclose a cause of death pending final autopsy results, officials said. Her body was found Sunday near an undeveloped camping area in remote northern Wyoming along the border of Grand Teton National Park, AP reported.

Meanwhile, authorities continued to search a swampy Florida preserve area near the home of Petito’s boyfriend. Police in North Port, Florida, said investigators returned Tuesday to the Carlton Reserve to look for Brian Laundrie, 23. Nothing of note was found, and the search was expected to continue Wednesday. Investigators began searching the 24,000-acre (9,700-hectare) Florida nature preserve over the weekend, focusing on the area after Laundrie’s parents told police he may have gone there, the report continued.
