Comey Claims Fox Booked, Then Canceled Tuesday Appearance: Fox Says It Never Happened

Fired and disgraced former FBI director James Comey is in panic mode.

After the release of the long-awaited Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz’s report on Monday, Comey did a victory lap on social media and elsewhere, trying to rub it in the faces of his critics.

The problem here is the IG report absolutely scorched Comey and his band of mutineers at the FBI, exposing not only mistakes, but felonies to boot.

OAN’s Liz Wheeler summed it up succinctly:

The fact that the IG report reveals that the Inspector General figured out that one of Comey’s people altered a document just to help the illegally-obtained FISA warrant alive, a felony, is enough to wipe the smugness off Comey’s face.

Though he has the ability to cover it up when he speaks publicly, Comey is a man in panic mode who thinks acting innocent and vindicated will self-fulfill in the real world.

Attorney General William Barr and US Attorney John Durham on Monday both made statements disagreeing with the conclusion of the IG report that the spying operation on the Trump campaign was properly predicated.

Now this.

Fox News is now denying a claim by Comey that the news network booked him for Fox & Friends, and then canceled a Tuesday appearance, and he did it in a way to vindicate himself.

Comey made the claim that he was scheduled to appear on Fox & Friends on Tuesday more-than-likely to talk about the IG’s FISA report on the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion investigation.

“FYI: I offered to go on Fox & Friends to answer all questions,” Comey tweeted on Monday afternoon. “I can’t change their viewers on Donald Trump but hoped to give them some actual facts about the FBI. They booked me for tomorrow at 8 am. They just cancelled. Must have read the report.”

A representative at Fox News set the record straight on Comey’s claim, “James Comey was not booked and was never confirmed to appear on Fox & Friends.”

During an appearance on the conspiracy network MSNBC, Comey made the same claim on Monday: “I offered to go on Fox & Friends, which I gather is a very important program for supporters of the president,” after host Nicolle Wallace asked what happened.

They agreed last night to book me at 8 tomorrow,” he continued. “I figured I can’t change the minds of Fox viewers about President Trump, but I can give their minds, I hope, about the FBI by giving them actual facts. And after the report came out they canceled my appearance. They must’ve read the report.”

Fox News’ David Webb offered an invitation to go on his Fox Nation show, or on his SiriusXM radio broadcast on the Patriot channel.  I doubt Comey will accept, because he’s not about to go on any show that will actually ask him real questions.

Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum both invited Comey on their Fox News shows, but again, I don’t expect him to accept.

He was never invited on Fox & Friends in the first place, and probably told the outrageous lie to make his appearances on friendly shows seem more credible, and to lend credence to his argument that the IG report didn’t expose all of the corruption from his FBI that in reality it did, and there’s a plethora of it in the report.
