The Los Angeles Rams overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 on Sunday at a rain-soaked Lincoln Financial Field, snapping a four-game losing streak against Philadelphia and pulling their season back from the brink.
For three quarters, the Rams looked like a team unraveling. Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw two interceptions, special teams gave up another lengthy punt return, kicker Harrison Mevis missed a field goal, and tight end Tyler Higbee dropped a pass on fourth down. Los Angeles trailed by 10 entering the final quarter and appeared on track for a 1-3 start.
Stafford was intercepted by Andrew Mukuba on the Rams’ opening possession after overthrowing Konata Mumpfield. Special teams trouble followed when Ethan Evans’ 51-yard punt was returned 41 yards by Britain Covey, netting Los Angeles just 10 yards of field position. Two plays later, Jalen Hurts found Darius Cooper for an 18-yard touchdown and a 13-3 Philadelphia lead.
Puka Nacua, playing for the first time since Week 1, scored on a jet-sweep handoff from Stafford with 1:55 left in the first half to cut the deficit to three. But Stafford threw his second interception shortly after, this one to Cooper DeJean, with Higbee open underneath. Philadelphia capitalized when Hurts connected with Cooper again for a touchdown following a pass-interference call on Trent McDuffie. Mevis then missed a 48-yard field goal attempt wide left.
The turnaround
With Philadelphia facing third-and-goal from the Rams’ 2-yard line and threatening to put the game away, Hurts bobbled the snap and scrambled for no gain. On fourth down, Los Angeles’ pass rush forced an errant throw intended for Cooper — the Rams defense’s second fourth-down stop of the quarter.
Los Angeles then drove 98 yards from its own goal line, with running back Kyren Williams capping the march with a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 20-17. After forcing another Philadelphia punt, the Rams drove down the field again, and Williams scored his second rushing touchdown of the quarter to put Los Angeles ahead 24-20.
Williams finished with 80 rushing yards and 10 catches for 66 receiving yards, accounting for both go-ahead scores. Philadelphia went 0-for-12 on third-down conversions, while the Rams converted 7 of 16 third downs.
Nacua, returning from a hip injury that had kept him out since Week 1, made his first catch count — a juggling 28-yard reception down the right sideline that helped spark the Rams’ comeback.
The win moves Los Angeles to 2-2 on the season, snapping a four-game losing streak to Philadelphia dating back to 2023. The Rams return home to SoFi Stadium to face the 3-1 Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
