In-N-Out CEO Names Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma as Possible Next States

In-N-Out Burger CEO Lynsi Snyder said Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma are among the possible next states for the California-born chain, while stressing that quality, not speed, drives its growth.

In-N-Out Burger CEO Lynsi Snyder has named three states the beloved West Coast chain could expand into next: Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma.

Snyder made the comments during an interview with television host Terry Crews, where she discussed the company’s cautious approach to growth. “Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma. There are some states there that are possibilities,” she said.

Snyder is the granddaughter of Harry and Esther Snyder, who founded In-N-Out in 1948. She emphasized that the chain prioritizes consistency and quality over rapid expansion.

“I just want to make sure that everything is right and that our In-N-Out family is strong, and we’re retaining all those values,” Snyder said, pointing to the company’s reputation for cleanliness, quality and friendly service. “If I ever felt like we were slipping or losing our way, growth would look a lot different.”

The company has long distinguished itself by delivering fresh ingredients to every restaurant rather than relying on frozen or reheated food. “In fact, we don’t even own a microwave or freezer,” In-N-Out says on its website. Its burgers are made from fresh beef produced at patty-making facilities in California and Texas.

From a Baldwin Park Stand to 11 States

In-N-Out’s first location was a 100-square-foot burger stand in Baldwin Park, a Los Angeles suburb, and it became California’s first drive-thru restaurant. Harry Snyder invented the two-way speaker system used to take orders from customers in their cars.

The chain has expanded gradually over the decades. Washington state got its first In-N-Out in August 2025. Tennessee welcomed the company’s first location in the state on Dec. 10 of last year, marking In-N-Out’s easternmost presence to date. Tennessee now has five open stores with a sixth announced as coming soon.

New Mexico is set to become the chain’s 11th state in 2027, according to an announcement the company made on Instagram in 2023.

Despite the recent growth, Snyder said she values the chain’s relatively limited footprint. “I feel like there’s a special peace knowing that In-N-Out isn’t everywhere,” she told Crews, adding that while the expansion might look fast from the outside, it isn’t happening “like crazy.”

California remains the heart of the business, with 299 locations in the state. “This is where we started, it’s where we are now and it’s where we’ll always be,” Snyder said.

Fox News Digital reported that it reached out to In-N-Out for further comment and details.
