Bridget Fonda Seen Out in Los Angeles, Over Two Decades Since Last Acting Role

Bridget Fonda, 62, was photographed on a casual lunch outing in Los Angeles, 24 years after her final on-screen appearance in 2002.

Bridget Fonda, 62, was photographed out to lunch in Los Angeles on Monday, Nov. 2, marking a rare public sighting of the actress 24 years after her final on-screen appearance.

She was dressed casually in black sweatpants and a white tank top paired with a yellow collared button-up shirt, accessorized with a black crossbody bag and sunglasses, with her hair pulled into a ponytail.

Fonda comes from one of Hollywood’s most storied acting families. She is the granddaughter of Academy Award-winning actor Henry Fonda, known for “The Grapes of Wrath,” “12 Angry Men” and “On Golden Pond,” and the niece of Academy Award winner Jane Fonda. Bridget made her film debut at age five, appearing alongside her father, Peter Fonda, in the 1969 film “Easy Rider.”

Her breakthrough came in 1989 with the film “Scandal,” and she went on to appear in “Single White Female,” “Point of No Return,” “It Could Happen to You” and “Jackie Brown.”

Fonda’s acting career slowed significantly in the late 1990s and 2000s. Her final film role came in the 2001 TV movie “After Amy,” and her last on-screen appearance was in two episodes of the miniseries “Snow Queen” in 2002.

According to the Daily Mail, Fonda told paparazzi in April 2023 that she had no intention of returning to acting, saying, “It’s too nice being a civilian.”

Fonda has spoken in the past about the challenges of building a career while being compared to her famous relatives. In a 2000 interview with The Guardian, she said:

“At one time, there was nothing the press would have liked better than to set up a me vs Jane thing. They were desperate for us to be bitter rivals. They’d also try to set me against my dad, to use me as a dart to throw at someone else.”

After leaving Hollywood, Fonda married film composer and Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman in 2003. The couple welcomed a son, Oliver, in 2005.

In a 1993 interview with Movieline, Fonda reflected on how her family name shaped her career.

“I wonder what kind of satisfaction I would have with where I am now if I wasn’t part of a family that has done such phenomenal work,” she said. “I sometimes wonder if I would be more at peace if I could know I made it by myself, instead of always wondering how many times my name got me in the door.”
