Actress Brooks Nader was spotted in a Playboy Bunny costume on Wednesday while filming scenes for the upcoming movie “Playmates” at a Beverly Hills mansion.
Nader, 29, known for her role in “Baywatch,” wore the classic ensemble — a black bodysuit, bow tie, bunny ears and fluffy tail — during a five-hour shoot. The film is directed by Lorraine Nicholson, daughter of actor Jack Nicholson. Details about the character Nader is playing have not been disclosed.
“Playmates” began filming in Los Angeles in October. The project is loosely based on Lorraine Nicholson’s own upbringing at the Playboy Mansion and centers on two fictional Playmates, Elle and Anna, played by Indiana Elle and Lily-Rose Depp, respectively. Bill Pullman has been cast as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, who died in 2017 at age 91.
Jessica Biel is also part of the cast, playing Hugh Hefner’s wife — a casting choice that has drawn public criticism from Hefner’s real-life widow, Crystal Hefner, who was married to him from 2012 until his death in 2017.
Widow’s objections
Crystal Hefner, 40, sent Biel, 44, a direct message on Instagram last month asking her to reconsider taking the role.
“I was actually his wife, and I experienced sexual, emotional, financial and physical abuse in that relationship,” Crystal wrote. “Many other women have come forward with allegations of rape, coercion, drugging and exploitation as well.”
She also urged the filmmakers to consult the women who lived through the Playboy Mansion era before portraying it on screen, writing that she hoped “everyone involved in this film takes the time to listen to the women who lived it before helping Hollywood turn it back into nostalgia.”
Crystal Hefner has previously made disturbing allegations about her time with Hugh Hefner, including claims that she witnessed him coerce women into sex acts, among them incest. In a recent interview, she said that if she could go back, she would never have married him.
“I came from a broken home. I didn’t have a father,” she said. “And I know now that Hef chose people he could easily manipulate, like that was it.”
Separately, Nader recently recreated several past Playboy magazine covers for Halloween, dressing as Pamela Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith in homage to their earlier shoots for the publication.
