Kim Kardashian revealed an awkward realization about her friend and “All’s Fair” co-star Sarah Paulson: for longer than she’d like to admit, she thought Paulson’s deep, character voice was actually how the actress sounds in real life.
Kardashian, 46, made the admission on “Good Morning America” Wednesday morning while promoting the second season of the Hulu legal drama. She explained that Paulson, 51, uses a notably lower register to voice her character, Carrington Lane, and that she had assumed it was simply Paulson’s natural speaking voice.
Paulson confirmed the mix-up, saying, “Kim thought I had a voice that was seven octaves lower than I actually have for longer than she should have thought that. The Carrington Lane voice sort of sits down here, and she sort of thought it was my real voice.”
Kardashian said she figured it out while the two were together in Rome a few weeks ago doing press for the show. “I realized this when we were in Rome a few weeks ago,” she said, recalling that she turned to Paulson and asked, “Wait a minute, that’s not your real voice?” Paulson’s response was blunt: “NO! NO!” The two have now been working together on the series for more than a year.
On-set bonding — and breaking character
The cast used the appearance to talk about how their friendships have developed while filming. Co-star Niecy Nash-Betts, who plays Emerald Greene, said Kardashian and Paulson are the two most likely to break during a take. “Those two fall apart,” Nash-Betts said.
Kardashian recalled one instance when producers had to intervene. “They made Sarah and I one time get up and take a walk around the building because they said we needed to get it together. We were laughing so hard,” she said.
The cast also ribbed Kardashian for her love of the show’s prop food. “I love to eat [the set food] the whole time,” she said, laughing. Nash-Betts added, “Do not let that tiny body fool you. She eats everything.” Kardashian admitted she often tries to sneak extra servings after a scene wraps. “I eat all the prop food, and I’ll be walking by after they cut, and I’m like, still going, ‘Can I take a plate of that pie with me?’ and I just love the prop food,” she said.
A rocky debut season, and a real-life bar exam
“All’s Fair” premiered its first season on Hulu in November 2025 to largely negative reviews, with The Guardian describing it as “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible.”
In the show, Kardashian plays divorce lawyer Allura Grant — a role that echoes her real-life ambition to become a licensed attorney. She has not yet passed the bar exam, failing her attempt in July 2025. Speaking to Page Six at the New York premiere of season two on Monday, Kardashian downplayed any embarrassment over the setback. “I never really get embarrassed,” she said, adding, “I think it’s embarrassing for people that don’t try to study for the bar that would ever put me in an embarrassing situation.”
Season 2 of “All’s Fair” debuted with its first three episodes on Hulu Wednesday, with new episodes set to roll out weekly through December 2.
