David Gabriel-Georges, a Tennessee Volunteers football commit and the nation’s No. 2-ranked high school running back, is once again drawing national attention — this time for a bruising block he threw on special teams during a recent kickoff return.
Video of the hit has circulated widely, showing Gabriel-Georges flattening an opposing player with a block strong enough to turn heads well beyond Tennessee high school football circles.
The hit came on the heels of another standout performance from the senior, who ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns in a game against Ensworth.
Gabriel-Georges has built a reputation this season as one of the most dominant players in high school football nationally. In the season opener back in August, he scored three touchdowns. In September, he rushed for five touchdowns in a lopsided win that left the opposing defense struggling to contain him.
As a senior committed to play at Tennessee, Gabriel-Georges has become a focal point of weekly high school football coverage, with his combination of speed and physicality earning comparisons to standout NFL defenders for the intensity of his blocking, even though he primarily plays running back.
With his recruiting class nearing the next level of competition and new NIL rules allowing high school standouts to build their profiles earlier than ever, Gabriel-Georges’ highlight-reel plays — on offense and special teams alike — continue to fuel anticipation for his arrival in Knoxville.
