President Trump used a midterm campaign stop in Dalton, Georgia, on Friday to mock Sen. Jon Ossoff over campaign spending on makeup, claiming the Democrat has outspent every senator in history on cosmetics.
“He goes full bore. He’s got the makeup artist. They’re in there all the time. I don’t know how he does it, but he spends a fortune,” Trump told the crowd.
“He spends more money on makeup than any man or woman in the history of the Senate,” Trump said. “The women aren’t happy about it.”
Ossoff, 39, is seeking a second Senate term. His campaign has paid nearly $3,000 since February to makeup artist Stephanie Ponder, who has previously worked on film sets including “The Notebook” and “The Hunger Games,” according to a July report from the Washington Free Beacon. The outlet found Ossoff has spent more on makeup services than any federal candidate running in 2026.
Ossoff’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the New York Post.
Trump also addressed his own approach to makeup during the rally. “I wear very little, and I do it myself,” he said. “Because if you don’t put a little on, you look a little bit like a dead person – and I don’t want to look that way.”
Rally also boosted GOP ticket
Trump traveled to Georgia to campaign for Rep. Mike Collins, who is challenging Ossoff for his Senate seat, and for Rick Jackson, the Republican candidate for governor.
“There’s nobody more respected than Mike, with the job he’s done as a congressman,” Trump said of Collins, adding, “He is central casting. If I’m casting a movie for a senator – I like the white hair. I like that big, strong build – that’s what I want.”
Trump also praised Jackson, calling him a “great businessman” and a “very handsome, distinguished, beautiful looking guy.”
