New Text Messages Surface in Cornell Fraternity Rape Lawsuit

Newly released text messages between a former Cornell student and one of the men she has accused of gang rape are drawing renewed attention to the ongoing lawsuit stemming from a 2024 incident at the Chi Phi fraternity house.

Newly disclosed text messages are drawing fresh attention to a lawsuit filed by a former Cornell University student who has accused several members of the Chi Phi fraternity of gang rape during an incident in October 2024.

The woman, identified in court filings as “Jane Doe,” filed suit against multiple men she had sexual contact with at the fraternity house. This week, TMZ published text messages exchanged between Doe and one of the men she has accused.

In one message, Doe wrote to the man, “[I]f you have any regrets or anything you want to talk about i am always here to talk about it cause that was a lot,” adding, “i really do love u and matt and i promise i wont get quiet and weird w u like i did last time.” The reference to “Matt” appears to point to another man named in her allegations; public records show she sent a similarly worded message to him as well.

In another message cited by TMZ, Doe wrote to one of the accused men, “[P]s. i’m not sure if u remember but i did ket off your d–k at some point? [A]nd i honestly think that was one of the most insane/jaw dropping moments of the night.” Her use of the word “ket” is understood to refer to ketamine, a drug her lawsuit states she consumed in significant quantity that night.

According to the lawsuit, Doe had been drinking at a sorority house and visited bars before arriving at the Chi Phi fraternity house, where she met a male friend. Court filings indicate she initially agreed to a sexual encounter with two men that night, which she alleges expanded to include additional men and drug use without her full consent.

Doe has stated in other text messages, sent in the days following the incident, that she could only “sleep and cry all day.”

The case remains the subject of a civil lawsuit, and the matter is also reportedly being examined for potential criminal charges. No findings regarding what occurred at the fraternity house have been made public.
