Sydney Sweeney has met with two rabbis as she considers converting to Judaism, according to a source who spoke with Page Six, amid reports that her relationship with talent manager Scooter Braun is becoming increasingly serious.
“The couple is discussing having their own family and Scooter feels strongly on the subject,” the source said.
The religious conversion process typically takes one to four years, involves sustained study and requires a sponsoring rabbi, according to Page Six.
The report follows earlier reporting that Braun is planning to propose to Sweeney within the next six months. Sweeney was also seen attending Rosh Hashanah services with Braun at Temple Sholom in Greenwich, Connecticut, a synagogue whose congregants include actress Mayim Bialik and financiers Mark Shenkman, Steven Tananbaum, Cliff Asness and Andrew Milgram. A witness who saw the couple there said “they sat in the back.”
The site DeuxMoi first reported that Sweeney was weighing a conversion, but a source told Page Six she is now seriously pursuing it.
A source previously described Braun as viewing Sweeney as “the modern Marilyn Monroe,” a comparison that echoes Monroe’s own conversion to Judaism after she married playwright Arthur Miller, her third husband.
Braun appears intent on marriage, according to another source who spoke to Page Six earlier this month.
“He is trying very hard to marry her,” the source said. “He is following her and chartering private planes. He’s going to stay focused on her until she marries him.”
On Sept. 12, Braun posted a birthday tribute to Sweeney online, calling her “the person who surprised me and showed me how life with true partnership can be lived.”
“You make me smile harder, laugh louder, adventure more, and dream bigger,” he wrote. “You’ve made the ordinary feel exciting and the future feel like something I can’t wait to get to.”
The couple recently vacationed with a group at Lake Powell, Utah.
