Kim Kardashian says she relies on five nannies to help care for the four children she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, even as she insists she remains the hands-on parent in their day-to-day lives.
In a profile published Saturday by the Sunday Times’ Style Magazine, the Skims founder said at least one nanny is always on rotation when her kids — North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7 — are in her care. Still, Kardashian, 45, said she personally handles school drop-offs and pickups and makes a point of sitting down for family dinner each night.
“I think I am an intermediate-strict parent,” Kardashian said. “I’m extremely patient and loving. I still have a kid sleep in my bed when they want. I read books with the kids every night.”
Kardashian did not discuss the current state of her relationship with West, 49, but said the two have improved their communication when it comes to decisions about their children, particularly North’s budding solo music career.
“That is something that her dad and I have better communication about,” Kardashian said. “We make sure we’re aligned and that she’s in projects that we both approve.”
Kardashian and West were married from 2014 to 2022 and have had an often strained co-parenting relationship since their split. West has previously pushed back publicly after Kardashian described herself as her children’s “main provider.”
During a 2024 appearance on the “What’s in the Winkler” podcast, Kardashian said that despite her support staff, she often feels “alone” in raising her kids. She said she has “great support systems” but that things get especially hard overnight, when her children end up in her bed “kicking” and “crying.”
Kardashian said she rarely talks publicly about those struggles because she anticipates criticism.
“People will always jump to the, ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help,'” she said, adding that she considers herself “basically raising four kids by [herself].”
Kardashian has built an extensive business and entertainment career alongside raising her children. She has starred in reality television since 2007, launched Skims in 2019, and began studying law in 2018 through the California Law Office Study Program, which requires 18 hours of legal work per week. She has not yet passed the bar exam after several attempts; a source told Page Six in May that she was pausing her studies to focus on “filming and production for several projects.”
She recently took on an acting role as Allura Grant in Ryan Murphy’s series “All’s Fair,” and has wrapped filming on the show’s second season. Kardashian is also in a relationship with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.
West married model Bianca Censori in December 2022, roughly a month after his divorce from Kardashian was finalized.
