Country Singer Riley Green Takes Mature Bull Elk with Bow in Utah Mountains

Country singer Riley Green took a mature bull elk with a compound bow during a recent hunting trip in the Utah mountains, sharing photos of the hunt on Instagram.

Country music artist Riley Green recently traveled to the Utah mountains for an elk hunt, and came away with a mature bull elk taken using a compound bow.

Green shared the news and photos on Instagram on Friday, writing, “Freezer is full. Not many things challenge you like bow hunting elk… thankful for a few days to chase em in the Utah mountains and that I was able to put it all together on an awesome bull.”

The photos showed a large bull with an impressive rack, along with the work involved in packing the meat out of the mountains.

Green is known among hunting fans for his dedication to bowhunting specifically. He regularly serves as a guest host for “Major League Bowhunter,” a show that previously documented one of his Montana elk hunts in an episode titled “3rd Times A Charm.”

He has also spoken publicly about how difficult it can be to schedule an archery elk hunt around a touring career. In a past appearance on “Bussin’ With The Boys,” Green said the short hunting season, combined with the time it takes to locate and get within range of elk, makes bowhunting especially challenging to fit around life on the road. He described drawing elk tags in back-to-back years but only having a handful of days available to actually hunt.

That context makes his latest success in Utah notable. Bowhunting requires hunters to get much closer to an elk than rifle hunting does, often within close range of an animal that can weigh several hundred pounds and cover rugged, mountainous terrain.

Green is not the only country artist to have had recent luck hunting elk in Utah. Singer Luke Combs recently took a bull elk of his own during a Utah hunt with Jason Phelps — a trip Combs has said helped motivate a roughly 30-pound weight loss. Combs had initially hoped to take his elk with a bow but ultimately used a rifle to complete the hunt.

Green, for his part, stuck with his bow throughout his Utah hunt.
