Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, used an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” Friday to urge viewers to keep backing Republican candidates against their Democratic opponents in November’s midterm elections, describing a slate of Democratic Senate candidates as “dangerous, radical and weird.”
Host Sean Hannity asked Scott whether current polling was capturing just how extreme he believes some Democratic candidates are. “Our polling shows that we have races that are toss-ups,” Scott said. “The one thing we have to do is continue to put lead on the target. We’re talking about dangerous, radical and weird candidates all across the map for the Senate Democrats. If we expose their lies and let the American people know exactly who they are, we will win.”
Scott singled out several candidates by name. He criticized Texas Democrat James Talarico over comments he attributed to him regarding gender and his views on capitalism. “My life was changed because of free markets and capitalism,” Scott said.
He also referenced Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, claiming El-Sayed has said football is racist and has called to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement, defund police and close prisons. “We love our football all of — you got — they’ll kick you out,” Scott said. “This is what’s happening across the country. These are wolves in sheep clothes. They want to run to the center, but everything you watch they’ve ever said is lunatics talking like lunatics.”
Turning to Maine, Scott cited Troy Jackson, saying Jackson once remarked he’d “run as a communist if you could.”
America, believe the words that these Democrats said, these socialists said, frankly, communists said before they were at the ballot box. We’ve got to believe them, expose them, and defeat them.
Scott also took aim at New Hampshire’s Chris Pappas, saying Pappas has “never seen a tax increase in New Hampshire he didn’t like.” He summed up his message to Hannity’s audience by framing the midterms as a contest over the country’s direction. “Time and time again, Democrat after Democrat, the most dangerous, radical group of people who want to change America, not love the America that you and I love, Sean,” Scott said.
