Nashville-based country singer Maren Morris, 36, is giving fans a glimpse into a recent trip to Bali through a series of photos posted to Instagram, describing herself as “not healed but healing.”
In the caption, Morris thanked her travel companions, writing, “Thank you @rachelbeauregard + @hotyogaeastnashville for the most beautiful journey to Bali with so many new friends for life. And it’s not over yet :)”
The photo dump included an image of Morris in a black string bikini standing on a deck with a drink in hand, along with shots of her taking part in a group meditation, standing under a waterfall, and spending time with friends during the trip.
Fans responded warmly in the comments. “She’s thrivinggggggg (and surviving),” one follower wrote, while another said, “So happy to see this journey for you.”
Morris rose to fame in 2016 with her breakthrough single “My Church,” which led to her debut album “Hero,” featuring additional hits like “80’s Mercedes,” “I Could Use a Love Song” and “Rich.” She has since released four studio albums, including “D R E A M S I C L E,” “Humble Quest” and “Girl,” and has earned 17 Grammy nominations with one win.
It’s unclear exactly what Morris is referring to as she heals, though she has spoken in the past about personal struggles reflected in her music. Discussing “D R E A M S I C L E” with People in August 2025, an album that touches on her sexuality and her divorce from ex-husband Ryan Hurd, Morris called the project deeply personal.
“It’s just cool; it’s a very intimate record, very vulnerable, not the easiest to make — so the fact that people are receiving it this well and healing from my healing is really special, to get to see the live form of that that place now.”
Morris, known for her outspoken political views, has also discussed how the current climate in country music has affected her mental health. In a TikTok posted in January, she said award shows have become “dicey” as the genre’s political atmosphere shifted following President Trump’s first term.
“I’ve lost a lot of fans over the years because of my viewpoints and I think that’s fair. If you don’t agree with me, and you can’t enjoy my music because of my viewpoints, you are absolutely allowed to do that.”
Morris has faced backlash over her political stances before. In 2024, she drew criticism, including calls for her arrest, after bringing her young son to a drag show. She later defended the decision on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” describing the event as family-friendly.
“I think it’s just such an amazing expression of artistry, and so I just think like normalizing it and making it seem like these are just people that love dressing up, too, is an amazing thing. It was an all-ages show, so it was completely family-friendly.”
