Immigration and Customs Enforcement has carried out a new round of deportations targeting illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, including cases involving child sex crimes, domestic violence and assault, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the agency removed several individuals with serious criminal histories last week. “Last week, the patriots of ICE deported more illegal aliens, including pedophiles, drunk drivers, and violent assailants,” Mullin said.
Among those deported was Miguel Baltazar-Bernal of Mexico, who had prior convictions for sexual intercourse with a minor, corporal injury on a spouse, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana for sale, and illegal entry. Baltazar-Bernal had previously been deported from the United States six times, and a federal immigration judge issued a final deportation order against him in 1995.
ICE also deported Omer Karahodzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who had convictions including four counts of third-degree assault on a corrections employee, three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of drunk driving, three counts of public alcohol intoxication, and marijuana possession. Karahodzic had also been arrested on kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges. A federal immigration judge ordered his deportation in July 2025.
Altiman Peterkin of Jamaica was deported following a conviction for assault and battery on a family member. Peterkin had also faced arrest on rape and murder threat allegations. He entered the United States legally in November 2014 but overstayed his visa by February 2015. A federal immigration judge ordered his deportation this past July.
Two additional individuals were deported as part of the enforcement actions: Teofilo Ramos-Ramos of Guatemala, convicted of false imprisonment by violence, menace, fraud or deceit, and drunk driving causing injury; and Cecilia Gonzalez-Chavez of Mexico, convicted of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Mullin framed the deportations as part of a broader enforcement push. “Eighty percent of the American people support deporting criminal illegal aliens,” he said. “Every day, DHS is delivering on President Trump’s mandate from the American people to deport illegal aliens and make America safe again.”
