Syndicated with permission via Valiant News| Andrew White| Joe Biden on Wednesday lectured Floridians on “climate change” during a visit to the Sunshine State to survey the damages caused by Hurricane Ian alongside Governor Ron DeSantis, who did not look pleased with the president’s remarks.
During a joint press conference in Fort Meyers, DeSantis began the presser by touting the collective Hurricane response by local, state, and federal entities, noting that “there’s been less bureaucracy holding us back on this one than probably any” other disaster in the state’s history.
While DeSantis apolitically applauded the collaboration between various government entities, the Florida Governor also pointed to non-governmental support systems, such as the Volunteer Florida fund put together by Florida’s First Lady, which has raised millions of dollars to assist Hurricane victims.
“I also want to thank the First Lady, my wife Casey. She launched FloridaDisasterFund.org at the end of last week. It’s now raised over 35 million dollars,” DeSantis said.
“As much as we appreciate all the state agencies that are offering assistance, FEMA that can offer assistance, those are based on regulation and law, and there are some people who may not fit into those wickets.” DeSantis explained, “We now have mobilized private charities with a lot of money and growing to be able to help people in really tough circumstances.”
When Biden took the podium, the president then proceeded to lecture devastated Floridians about “climate change,” breaking away from the nonpartisan tone that was set by DeSantis.

Biden’s remarks had also appeared to run contrary to Tuesday claims made by his Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, who said that the president’s visit would be “above politics.”
“I think the one thing [Hurricane Ian] has ended is the discussion about whether or not there is climate change and we should do something about it,” Biden told Floridians.
The president added that it would take “years” to recover fully from the violent storm, noting that “we have one job and only one job … to make sure the people of Florida get everything that they need to fully, thoroughly recover.”

After the two leaders gave their separate remarks, Biden abruptly told reporters that DeSantis “recognized” global warming despite the governor omitting any partisan statements during the conference.
“First of all, the biggest thing the governor’s done and so many others have done, they’ve recognized this thing called global warming. The world is changing. It’s changing,” Biden said.
