Rich Welsh| The difference between a liberal and a leftist is nearly as wide a gap as the difference between a leftist and a conservative. Liberals and conservatives can get along because they have shared goals. Neither can get along with the Left because they don’t share any of our goals.
Bill Maher is a liberal host on HBO who is clearly on the left side of the political spectrum, but he’s not a nut.
Maher recently criticized Joe Biden for trying to force Americans off of fossil fuels when he doesn’t have a replacement for fossil fuels at the ready. You see? Not a nut.
The HBO talk show host that the Biden administration’s failures in the energy sector, Biden is now resorting to begging Saudi Arabia for oil, while the price of gasoline skyrockets at home.
Biden also asked the dictator Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela for oil, who said no, and then recently entered into a cooperation agreement with Iran that is to last 20 years.
Incidentally, Joe Biden has done to the United States what Iran, Venezuela, and other enemies could not do; bring our economy to the brink of collapse.
Maher noted a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University showing Biden’s approval rating among 18-34 being at 22 percent, and what has always been counted on as a sure thing constituency, Hispanics show only 24 percent approval, saying that gas prices and the overall downshift of our economy are why Biden’s approval ratings are in the toilet.
On the most recent episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Maher spoke with Krystal Ball, host of “Breaking Points,” and columnist James Kirchick about how skyrocketing gas prices are pummeling Americans’ paychecks.
“Gas prices, we can largely attribute to an administration that’s been waging war on the fossil fuel industry,” Kirchick said.
Maher mentioned how Joe Biden, during the 2020 campaign, promised to end fossil fuels in America. No one took him seriously at the time because no one believed he would ever get the nomination, just like most people do not believe he actually won the White House.
While campaigning for president, Joe Biden told a young female voter that he guarantees her that he is going to end fossil fuels.
The columnist reminded us that on day one, Biden ended the Keystone Pipeline and “antagonized Saudi Arabia with his with his Iran policy, and now he’s going back to them hat in hand to get them to increase their production.”
“Look, I wish we were all off fossil fuels forever,” Maher said. “But the truth is that when people get off fossil fuels before they have a replacement, they wind up going back to even worse fossil fuels,” Maher added. “Germany said, ‘We don’t want nuclear power anymore,’ which is the cleanest, and what did they have to go back to? Coal.”
You can’t explain this to leftists because they never want to hear anything but praises for their policies.
“And basically, the same thing happened here. We said, ‘Saudi Arabia, go f*** yourself, you killed a journalist,’ and now, Biden is going over there, hat in hand, begging them for oil. Because people want their gas.”
Ball made the point of how “pathetic” it is that Biden goes off pleading for oil from Saudi Arabia, but then blamed oil companies for high prices. He’s blamed Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine even though gas prices were rising long before that happened, American drivers, Republicans, that little woodpecker that makes noise to the side of our deck out back, pretty much anything and anybody other than himself whose policies are really to blame. You can’t tell the country you’re going to get rid of fossil fuels and then blame everyone else when you do it and things fall apart.
But the important message is Biden tried to get us off fossil fuels without having a plan ready to go as a replacement. We saw similar behavior when the military withdrew from Afghanistan. Biden ordered military personnel out first and didn’t have a plan to withdraw the American civilians who were trying to get out, many of them are still there stuck behind enemy lines because Joe Biden left them behind.
It’s pretty bad when a Democrat president loses Bill Maher.
