BREAKING: Senate Committee Slaps Donald Trump Jr. With A Subpoena

Donald Trump Jr., son of President Donald Trump has been served with a subpoena by the Senate Intelligence Committee to give testimony before the Senate in relation to the Russia investigation, Axios said in a breaking report.

Don Jr. was a major part of the 2016 presidential campaign, as well as playing a crucial role in President Trump’s business, prior to his run for the president. For that reason, both father and son’s interactions with any Russian entities have been called into question during the course of the investigation.

According to Axios, who believes that this is the first congressional subpoena to be served to one of the president’s children, it is a significant move because it was sent by a Republican-controlled committee.

“It’s also a sign that the Russia investigations in Congress aren’t over despite the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe and despite Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell saying it’s time to move on from the Russia probe,” Axios reported.

A Senate Intelligence Committee spokesperson reportedly told the publication: “We do not discuss the details of witness engagements with the Committee.
Throughout the investigation, the Committee has reserved the right to recall witnesses for additional testimony as needed, as every witness and witness counsel has been made aware.”

While Congress is divided, primarily along party lines, as to whether or not the president should continue to be investigated, committees from both the House and Senate have been fixated on the special counsel’s report, almost two years in the making.

“Unlike many congressional investigations in the Trump era, the Senate Intelligence probe — led by Republican chairman Richard Burr and ranking Democrat Mark Warner — has been largely bipartisan,” Axios reported.

“The fact that they’re subpoenaing Trump Jr. is a strong signal that he declined a request to appear before the committee again.”
